Research lead by ����Թ� Assistant Professor of Biology Beth Reinke provides first comprehensive evidence that turtles in the wild age slowly and have long lifespans, shows highly variable rates of aging across reptiles and amphibians, and identifies several species that essentially do not age.

����Թ� has entered into a formal partnership with Hope Chicago, a nonprofit organization seeking to reduce economic and social inequity by funding postsecondary scholarships and non-tuition costs for Chicago Public Schools graduates and their adult family members eager to return to school and update their skills.

Professor of Biology Aaron Schirmer has been honored with ����Թ�’s 2022 Bernard J. Brommel Distinguished Research Professor award.

Ensemble Español, in residence at ����Թ�, will host “Flamenco Passion” June 17-19 featuring their popular live dance and music performances to cap the company’s 46th American Spanish Dance & Music Festival, which runs June 8-14.

William C. “Doc” Speller, who served as the founder and coordinator of Project Success for more than 40 years, died on Jan. 12. He was 91 years old. A memorial service will be held from 11 a.m-1 p.m., Saturday, May 28, at the Jacob H. Carruthers Center for Inner City Studies, 700 E. Oakwood Blvd. in Chicago, Illinois.
