, director of the Institute of International Relations at the University of Warsaw in Poland, will present a lecture on Monday, Feb. 16, titled 鈥淭he Ukrainian-Russian War: Realist, Liberal and Constructivist Perspectives.鈥

鈥淧rofessor Edward Halizak will use international relations theories to address the root causes of the Ukraine crisis,鈥 Northeastern Political Science Associate Professor Martyn de Bruyn said. 鈥淭his talk is very timely as a settlement has just been agreed upon between Germany, France, Russia and Ukraine that provides for an immediate cease-fire. The success of this settlement will determine whether peace can be restored in Ukraine or an escalation of the conflict is inevitable.鈥

Halizak鈥檚 lecture is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. in Student Union 216. After the lecture, students will have an opportunity to learn about studying in Warsaw.

Halizak is visiting from one of Northeastern鈥檚 partner institutions in order to strengthen the bonds of the universities鈥 relationships. He is joined by , deputy director of the Institute of International Relations, and , coordinator of the institute鈥檚 partnership with Northeastern.
