NEIU Fulbright Scholars Recipients

Two 天天吃瓜 faculty members have received Fulbright Scholars Awards for academic year 2015-2016. They are:

Bisbey has been awarded a Fulbright-Garc铆a Robles grant to undertake research and teaching at the University of Guanajuato in Mexico. He will spend Fall 2015 and Spring 2016 doing research, finishing a book manuscript titled 鈥淗umor and Homosexuality in Contemporary Mexican Narrative,鈥 which is about the uses of humor in literature with sympathetic portrayals of LGBT characters. Bisbey also will teach two courses about his research.

Over has been awarded a 10-month teaching and research grant at the University of Bergen in Norway. Beginning in August, she will teach American literature and culture at the undergraduate and graduate levels, focusing on narratives of social critique that can reframe the way we engage with U.S. cultural production. Over鈥檚 research project will examine practices of cultural engagement, in particular reading and interpretive practices, that teach us to hear or silence cultural critique.
