It鈥檚 that time of year again: 天天吃瓜 has awarded tenure to a new batch of faculty members. Find out who earned tenure, what a local cinema partnership has meant to the University and where to find a fun book collection at the Ronald Williams Library.

12 faculty members earn tenure

Northeastern has awarded to associate professor for 12 members of the faculty, who were introduced during the June 15 Board of Trustees meeting. 鈥淚 congratulate the latest members of our faculty to earn tenure,鈥 Acting Provost Vicki Rom谩n-Lagunas said. 鈥淭his milestone in their development as teachers, researchers, mentors and role models for Northeastern鈥檚 current and future students also builds on Northeastern鈥檚 tradition of teaching and research excellence. I look forward to watching them continue to grow as leaders and educators.鈥 Here is the list of awards of tenure and promotion.

If you visit Northeastern on almost any Wednesday evening, you鈥檒l find a happy group of film buffs settled into the cozy seats of the Auditorium for a rare movie screening. The journey to get them there was anything but comfortable. Find out how Northeastern鈥檚 partnership with the has benefitted both film buffs and students over the past two years.

Caf茅 Collection

The Ronald Williams Library has united two favorite pastimes鈥攕ipping tasty beverages and reading鈥攚ith its updated of books. The collection started in 2014 when Caf茅 Decartes opened a second Main Campus location on the first floor of the library. Besides beverages and pastries, the space also offered comfortable seating and a selection of academic books and magazines pulled from the library stacks. The collection鈥檚 new books are titles that wouldn鈥檛 ordinarily be included in an academic library collection: cookbooks, celebrity memoirs and popular fiction, among other genres.

  • Northeastern will host a  from 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. in Alumni Hall on June 20. Departments from across the University will come together to help students prepare for the summer and fall semesters.
  • The  program will host two open houses in the coming weeks: 3:30-5:30 p.m. June 23 in BBH 317 and 1-3 p.m. June 30 in BBH 317. RSVP to l-hollissawyer@neiu.edu if you plan to attend.
  • The NEIU Alumni Association will host a for former Northeastern athletes on June 22.
  • El Centro architect Juan Moreno will participate in a hosted at the Art Institute of Chicago on June 20.

鈥楻a铆ces: Yesterday is Tomorrow鈥

The stage of the North Shore Center for the Performing Arts will see the world premieres of three new choreographies in 鈥淩a铆ces: Yesterday is Tomorrow鈥 on June 16, 17 and 18. The performances are part of Ensemble Espa帽ol Spanish Dance Theater鈥檚 that runs through June 24. The annual event includes performances, classes, seminars and lectures showcasing the elegance and passion of Spain鈥檚 dance, music and culture.

Forks of the Roads workshop

Northeastern will host a workshop in connection with the exhibit titled Inequalities of African American Males in the Prison System and Its Connection to Slavery at noon on June 21 in FA 107.
