����Թ� and the Prison + Neighborhood Arts Project (P+NAP) held a Commencement ceremony at Stateville Correctional Center on Oct. 15 for their cohort of five students who graduated through the University Without Walls (UWW) program. Highlights of the ceremony for Darnell Maurice Lane, Michael James Bell, Juan A. Luna, Reginald Terrell BoClair and Daniel Edward Perkins included an address by poet and scholar Fred Moten and a performance by Chance the Rapper.

LGBTQ+ History Month  

The Angelina Pedroso Center for Diversity and Intercultural Affairs celebrated on Oct. 19 as part of LGBTQ+ History Month. In collaboration with the Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, the Pedroso Center created a video promoting the importance of recognizing one another’s pronouns. The video, narrated by President Gloria J. Gibson, features students, faculty, staff and members of the NEIU administration sharing their chosen pronouns. NEIU Libraries continues the celebration through the rest of October with their .

NEIU Libraries Book Sale

These days, you can’t get much for $1, but that’s all you’ll need to get a head start on your holiday shopping or appease your inner bookworm at the NEIU Libraries book sale! All items are only a dollar. The sale runs from 8 a.m.-10:45 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2 and Thursday, Nov. 3 and 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4 at the Ronald Williams Library. Cash, Zelle and PayPal accepted.

Native American Peoples Heritage Month

COVID-19 updates

In accordance with guidelines set forth by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Northeastern has adopted new strategies for mitigating COVID-19. Contact tracing will be conducted as needed. However, weekly reports of positive cases and vaccination rates will no longer be reported. If you test positive for COVID-19, students should immediately notify Student Health Services, and employees should notify their supervisors and the Office of Human Resources. Additionally, faculty and staff are required to report positive and presumptive student COVID-19 cases and exposures to Student Health Services. We continue to follow Chicago Department of Public Health and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines as we ensure proper protocols and preventative measures are in place for the health and safety of our students and employees.
