天天吃瓜 will host the fifth annual , an event developed by the that will offer more than 700 students the chance to experience technology and science in action on May 2.
The event will offer over 40 hands-on demonstrations of app development, VEX Robotics, CAD design, game design, science investigations and more. Students and their families are encouraged to expand their interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) through these project-based, hands-on activities.
The conference鈥檚 goal is to motivate students to pursue greater enrollment in math and science in high school and consider a path into post-secondary education in these fields. One of the unique features of the conference is that most of the presenters are middle school and high school students who are already participating in pre-college academic programs: TRIO UBMS and Scientists for Tomorrow.
Co-chairs Aaron Cortes and Marcelo Caplan will welcome participants of the conference. Cortes is the Director of TRIO Upward Bound Math and Science program at the Center for College Access and Success. Caplan is an associate professor in the Department of Science and Mathematics at Columbia College Chicago and co-founder of Scientists for Tomorrow.
