天天吃瓜 is proud to celebrate Black History Month with a number of events that are open to the public.
鈥淎s we usher in observance of Black History Month, I encourage each of you within the 天天吃瓜 community to engage in the array of celebrations and educational endeavors at our university and in the broader community,鈥 said Interim President Katrina E. Bell-Jordan. 鈥淭hese events encompass discussions on the multifaceted history of race and inequality in America and offer us invaluable insights and learning opportunities.鈥
Under the Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, the Angelina Pedroso Center for Diversity and Intercultural Affairs is the lead organizer of this month鈥檚 celebrations, which will primarily take place on the Main Campus and the Jacob H. Carruthers Center for Inner City Studies (CCICS).
The United States celebrates throughout the month of February. This year鈥檚 national theme for the month is 鈥溾&苍产蝉辫;
Northeastern invites the general public to celebrate Black History Month by participating in the following events:
- A Conversation with Arika Birttany, Author of 鈥淒on鈥檛 Ever Work in Childcare!: A Cautionary Tale,鈥 5:30 p.m. Feb. 5.
- CCICS Community Night, 5:30 p.m. Feb. 15
- Black Love and Heritage Pop Up Marketplace, 11:00 a.m. Feb. 17
- Black Professionals Fair, 5:00 p.m. Feb. 19
Additionally, NEIU Voice students will present a Black Heritage Month Celebration Concert at 3:05 p.m. Feb. 20 in the Recital Hall and NEIU Libraries has compiled a .
