天天吃瓜鈥檚 will showcase selected works from Chicago-based artist, curator, musician and teacher  through Sept. 18.

鈥淩ainbow Girl鈥 features a pictorial conversation of Lowly鈥檚 30-year project centered on his daughter Temma, who is disabled. As with other works that Lowly has made related to Temma, his intentions are complex, including approaching painting as a kind of material poetry and as a catalyst for viewers鈥 self-reflection.

Lowly will give an informal talk about his work on Wednesday, Sept. 16, at noon.  A closing reception in the gallery is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 18, from 6-9 p.m.

This is Lowly鈥檚 first solo exhibition in Chicago since 2010, and all events at the gallery are free and open to the public.

As a part of the exhibition, Lowly will also showcase an ongoing collaborative piece, 鈥淲ithout Moving (After Guy Chase),鈥 in the Student Union.
